...am an already addicted.

A little perspective.

I am reading Learning to See Creatively by Bryan Peterson in an effort to better compose the photographs I take.  I am just beginning the book, but have already learned a valuable lesson.

While Madtown was playing in the rain the other morning, I saw a wonderful opportunity to take some photos of her with her purple raincoat and adorable Hello Kitty boots.  At first, however, even though she looked adorable, I wasn't pleased at all with how my photos were turning out.

It then occurred to me that, as I was learning from this book, that maybe my perspective was off. I choose to shoot from another angle.

Just by dropping below and shooting up at Madtown, I was able to take a picture I love.

It's amazing what a little change in perspective will do.

Walking. Sort of.

Little Man is working on walking.  He just sees the lawnmower or school bus and gets a massive grin on his face. 

Being that he is also standing on his own (even with a little dancing bounce if music is playing), I predict he will take his first steps by his eleven month mark. 

You can quote me on that.

As a side note - I am reading a new (to me) book on exposure:  Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson which has inspired me to switch out of Aperture Priority to Manual on my camera and am so happy with the results - particularly after his hints on where to meter when framing a shot. My photos of little man walking were all dark in the background with a super bright face due to the wonky late afternoon/early evening lighting in our living room, but I was able to correct this by metering behind him instead of on him.

I love learning more and more about this hobby. Especially with such fabulous subjects to practice on.
